- Issue
- After running Recovery.Com an error occurs during Toshiba Recovery CD install, "Error installing: Video Panning Driver 1.4. The system cannot find the file specified." The problem is that the Panning.sys driver was not copied correctly to the hard drive. Even though and error was displayed Windows 95 is now restored.
- Procedure
- Reload Panning.sys driver by performing the following steps:
- Boot into Windows 95.
- Insert the Portege 7000/7010 Enhanced Recovery CD W'95 (V1.0 Beta: 5) in the external CD-ROM drive.
- Double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.
- Double click on the CD-Rom [E:] Drive icon.
- The Toshiba Recovery and Application CD 7000/7010CT will display.
- Select install applications and drivers, click on "Next" to continue.
- Select automatic installation, click on "Next" to continue.
- Locate and select "Video Panning Driver 1.4"
- The program will automatically select Neo Magic Display Driver and Neo Magic Video Manager, as well.
- Click on "Next" to continue.
- The program will display the drivers to be loaded.
- Select "Finish" to continue.
- The Installation screen will show the files being transferred.
If access is lost to Windows 95 and an external CD-Rom is in use, a custom DOS boot disk is required to load the external CD-Rom Drive drivers (i.e. EXP 820) to be able to access the data on the Recovery and Applications CD provided with the system.
The Recovery.Com program located in the /Bin subdirectory of the Recovery and Applications CD initiates the recovery process and reloads the Win'95 image in the system's hard drive.
