CHANGE HISTORY

Version 9.10  06-30-2000

Version 9.00  02-07-2000

  • BIOS for Pentium II and Pentium III models were intergrated.
  • A change was made to support Windows 2000.
  • The System BIOS was changed so that heat control of the fan would be done by using Watch Dog timer function of EC. (If EC doesn't support Watchdog Timer, for those with EC version 1.50 and lower, the heat control method used is unchanged. The fan always rotates on models that use a CPU of 500MHz and higher. For others, fan rotation is controlled, based on CPU temperature.
  • A change was made so that two ATAPI devices could be supported.
  • Corrected a problem with the Eject Password. The problem occurred when the Eject Password was set to Enable, and the computer was docked to the Desk Station. After shutdown, when running Windows 98, and then pressing the eject switch on the Desk Station, the system didn't ask for a password.
  • Corrected a problem where, after pre-installing Windows 95/98, execting hibernation without shutting down the computer, resulted in an intermittent hibernation error.

Version 8.50  11-03-1999

  • This BIOS is for Tecra 8000 models equipped with the 500MHz Pentium only. A change was made to allow the fan to run at all times. This will prevent any overheating conditions should the computer hang and is unable to otherwise control heat.

Version 8.20  07-14-1999

  • Corrected a problem that in "Display Auto Off Mode" in DOS mode. Turning ON the display from the "Display Off" state, caused an all white display.
  • Corrected in problem that "Wake-up on LAN" did not work running Windows '98, 2nd edition.
  • Corrected a problem that "Wake-up on LAN" did not work with "Password=Not Registered" in Setup, caused the computer to re-start under "Instant Security" state.
  • This BIOS is intended for Tecra 8000 models with processor speeds less than 500MHz. FDD problems are likely when using this BIOS with 500MHz models.

Version 8.10  06-04-1999

  • BIOS support for CPU with clock speed of 400MHz.
  • Correct a problem that, when running Windows 95/98, with "Legacy USB" enabled, and a USB mouse attached, the computer would hang when suspend or resume was executed.
  • Corrected a problem that, when the computer went into hibernation, running Windows 95, and a USB mouse was attached, the computer would hang coming out of hibernation.
  • Corrected a problem that, when the computer was running in "Low Processor Speed", and the FN+F5 keys were used to switch between displays, there would be a very long pause.
  • Corrected a resume failure problem when running Windows 98. When the computer is suspended and the Select Bay lock has been put into the unlocked position; a warning message will appear when the the computer is powered on. When the Select Bay lock is then moved to the locked position, the computer will display experience a resume failure.
  • Corrected a problem that, when "USB Legacy = Enabled" was set in BIOS Setup, and using a USB keyboard, the "\" character key did not work.

Version 8.00  03-01-1999

  • Corrected a problem in Windows '98 with a hang when operating under ACPI mode. C3 state function was disabled completely.

Version 7.91  01-11-1999

  • Corrected a problem where, under Win98 with the Processing Speed set to low, the system with a CPU module (Dixon 333MHz) can hang.
  • Corrected a problem where, if a SCSI card is connected under Win98, suspending and waking the system resulted in a system hang.
  • Corrected a problem where, after setting the display resolution to 1024X768 16M colors, if booting the system with a CRT disconnected, there would be no image on the LCD.
  • Corrected a problem where, in the case of resuming, the system would hang.

Version 7.90  12-14-1998

  • Corrected a problem where, when the Deskstation V Plus is connected with a PCI card (IBM Auto Wake Token Ring Card 4/16 (EH10)) and starting Win95, "!" appears in the Secondary IDE Controller section of Device Manager.
  • Corrected a problem where, if an Eject password is registered under Win98, the capability existed to undock a system without entering a password by unchecking "Enable Password Prompt".
  • Corrected a problem where, under Windows 98, the system could hang during hibernation suspend. Note: This and later versions of BIOS must be used in conjunction with video driver V4.10.01.5200-T2.00.04-02C or later.
  • Corrected a problem where the system would hang in the middle of the shutdown process if shutting down the system using the power switch under Win98 with the display off.
  • Corrected a problem where, after suspending the system under Win98 and opening or closing the lid while the system is off and then resuming the system, the result would be a resume failure.
  • Corrected a problem where suspending or resuming the system under Win95 or Win98 would lead to an all white or all black LCD.

  • Corrected a problem where the image on the LCD would disappear if the system is hot-docked or hot-undocked under multi-monitor mode.
  • Corrected a problem of an improper color setting when using Test & Diagnostic to set the screen to 320x200 (mode 0Dh).

  • Corrected a problem where, in the System Setup menu (TSETUP), if the Home key is being held down for a short period of time, then the whole display would become black.
  • Corrected a problem where the system password will be disabled even when an incorrect password service diskette is used.
  • Corrected a problem where, under Win98, if the Eject Password is enabled, the Desk Station 5 Plus cannot be recognized by the system if the system is restarted after an incorrect Eject Password is input three times.

Version 7.70  10-30-1998

  • Corrected to resolve an issue where, under Windows 98, the mouse pointer would disappear after a suspend/resume event if the pointer was pointing to the start menu.
  • Corrected an issue where hot-undocking would fail under Windows 98 if the LAN Docker ethernet controller is disabled in Device Manager, and the system had been cold-booted in the Docker.
  • Corrected to fix hot-swapping problems with the SelectBay FDD.

Version 7.60  09-01-1998

  • Corrected to eliminate the possibility of a system shutdown if the CPU module's ambient air temperature had not reached the shutdown limit.
  • The VGA BIOS was updated for enhanced performance at 1024x768x24bpp.
  • Support was added for LS-120 in the SelectBay.
