- Issue
- On some Toshiba computers equipped with a PCI Infrared port, there may be a "PCI Communication Device" under Device Manager | Other Devices section even though the Infrared port is working properly.
- Procedure
- This is normal under Windows 95.
To remove this item from Device Manager, follow these steps to mask PCI Communication Device in Device Manager
- Go to START/RUN and enter "REGEDIT.EXE". Press ENTER to continue.
- From Registry Editor menu, go to EDIT/FIND. Check "MATCH WHOLE STRING ONLY" button. Enter "PCI communication device". Click FIND NEXT button to search for this device in the registry.
- Change registry key CLASS from "unknown" to "Toshiba Resources".
- Change registry key "ConfigFlags" from "40 00 00 00" to "00 00 00 00".
- Save registry and reboot.
