Issue
On some Toshiba computers equipped with a PCI Infrared port, there may be a "PCI Communication Device" under Device Manager | Other Devices section even though the Infrared port is working properly.
Procedure
This is normal under Windows 95.

To remove this item from Device Manager, follow these steps to mask PCI Communication Device in Device Manager

  1. Go to START/RUN and enter "REGEDIT.EXE". Press ENTER to continue.
  2. From Registry Editor menu, go to EDIT/FIND. Check "MATCH WHOLE STRING ONLY" button. Enter "PCI communication device". Click FIND NEXT button to search for this device in the registry.
  3. Change registry key CLASS from "unknown" to "Toshiba Resources".
  4. Change registry key "ConfigFlags" from "40 00 00 00" to "00 00 00 00".
  5. Save registry and reboot.
