- Issue
After completing the the Out of Box Windows Set Up users have complained that, instead of the Windows desktop, the system boots into the initial power up start screen. In these cases, the users are finding that, the OOBE Start Up process is in a continuous loop.
The problem occurs when the Out of Box Set Up procedure was interrupted before completion. Generally these interruptions occur when a device driver or component errors during the initial installation.
- Resolution
Microsoft has provided updates, which are pushed down during the initial Windows Start Up, that eliminate the known sources of these device load errors. Microsoft is working on a change within the OOBE process to eliminate the looping condition altogether.
- Procedure
If a system is in the error state and is looping through the OOBE process, the problem can be resolved in two ways;
- For more experienced users, Remove the default user (created by the MS OOBE process) and stop the task MSOOBE.exe, in Task Manager, then restart the OOBE process.
- For less experienced users, Perform RESET through WinRE ( HDD Recovery)
- Hold down the F12 key, while rebooting the system
- Select the option to do the HDD Recovery
- Select the option to Troubleshoot the System
- Select the option to Remove All Files
- Export Control and EULA
