Issue

 

Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS) has released security updates to address vulnerabilities in the Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba. Toshiba recommends that all affected users update their PC’s software as described below to address these security vulnerabilities. 

Summary
Vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to take unauthorized control of the affected PC.  Consequently, malicious programs may be installed, or stored data may be revised or deleted.

Affected software versions

  • Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
    v9.10.27(T) and earlier versions

NOTE:    If the Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba is not pre-installed into your PC, Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba may be installed in connection with other Bluetooth equipment, such as a Bluetooth adapter. In this case, the version # may not include “(T)”.

Procedure

 

Installation (also displayed on the download link)

  1. Download and save the Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba file to a convenient location such as the Windows Desktop.
  2. Save all work in progress and close open applications.
  3. Double-click the downloaded file (TC00636200a.exe) to start the installation.
  4.  Press the Start button at the Toshiba Archive Extractor window.


     
  5. Press Yes if a User Account Control message is displayed.


     
  6. If Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba v9.10.32(T)  is applied successfully, below message will be shown.  Click Yes to restart the system.

 

Windows 8.1

1.    Open Start by swiping in from the lower-right edge of the screen then tap Start. 
2.    Tap Settings.
3.    Access Uninstall or change a program in the Windows Control Panel.
4.    If you do not see Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba in the list of programs, you do NOT need to proceed further.

Determining the version of Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba on your computer

 

Windows 8

1.    Open Start by swiping in from the lower-right edge of the screen then tap Start. 
2.    Tap Settings.
3.    Access Uninstall or change a program in the Windows Control Panel.
4.    If you do not see Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba in the list of programs, you do NOT need to proceed further.

Windows 7

1.    Access Uninstall or change a program in the Windows Control Panel.
2.    If you do not see Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba in the list of programs, you do NOT need to proceed further.

Windows Vista

1.    Access Uninstall or change a program in the Windows Control Panel.
2.    If you do not see Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba in the list of programs, you do NOT need to proceed further.

3.    You can see the version # in the details window. (If you use Windows Vista, access the details window through the Organize, Layout and Details Pane.) 

4.    If you do not see the affected software in the list of programs, you do NOT need to proceed further.

Windows XP

1.    Access Uninstall or change a program in the Windows Control Panel.
2.    If you do not see Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba in the list of programs, you do NOT need to proceed further.

3.    You can see the version # in the details window. (If you use Windows XP, access the details window by typing Click here for support information)
