WHO: Computer Systems Group of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. ("Toshiba CSG")
WHAT: Toshiba's Computer Systems Group has signed an agreement with Household Bank (SB) N.A., a subsidiary of Household International (NYSE:HI), the $119 billion (managed assets) consumer lender, to provide Toshiba CSG with a private label credit card program. The new private label program will be offered exclusively through Toshiba CSG's Shop Toshiba business unit, the company's online and telesales operations. Customers can apply for the new card directly online, or by calling telephone sales at 800-316-0920.

Through this arrangement, customers will be able to apply for instant credit with no annual fee using the Toshiba card and if approved, make immediate purchases. Household will provide all key customer service functions, including reviewing applications, opening new accounts, authorizing transactions, making billing adjustments, and responding to customer inquiries.

WHY:
As part of Toshiba's commitment to expanding financing options for customers, the private label credit card will give consumers a quick and convenient way to purchase Toshiba's complete family of notebook computers, PDAs, wireless network servers, and other computing solutions direct from the manufacturer. Basic financing will be complemented by special promotional programs from time to time, for those consumers who qualify

Household's extensive e-commerce and Web sales expertise will help Toshiba enhance the customer experience on the Shop Toshiba site. Household's technologies such as instant decisioning, allow approved customers to purchase Toshiba products on the spot using the new credit card. This will help build loyalty among Toshiba's existing customers as well as attract new ones.
