(TAIS) today expanded its award-winning Portégé line of ultraportable PCs with the introduction of the Portégé 3480CT, Portégé 7200CTe and Portégé 7220CTe. With these introductions, Toshiba is uniquely positioned to meet the wide range of needs for highly mobile professionals. The Portégé 3480CT is a powerful, lightweight companion device for the high travel users who require the lightest and thinnest portable computer possible, designed to support mainstream business applications. The Portégé 7200CTe and Portégé 7220CTe are desktop alternative solutions for power-hungry mobile professionals.

Toshiba's new product lineup gives users the broadest options available to enhance road warrior productivity at the office or on the road. The Portégé 3480CT offers comfortable touch-type keyboard and nearly nine hours of battery life (with optional high capacity battery slice) allowing customers to stay productive, even in limited workspace conditions such as airline seating. As the industry's most powerful series of ultraportables, the Portégé 7200CTe and Portégé 7220CTe incorporate large 13.3-inch displays and full-sized keyboards to maximize productivity in the office and on the road.

Portégé 3480CT

Offering highly mobile customers the perfect balance of ultraportability and performance, the Portégé 3480CT is a powerful 3.4-pound, less than an inch-thin portable PC with generous storage capabilities, expansion flexibility and advanced multimedia capabilities. Under its silver lid and dark gray magnesium case, the Portégé 3480CT delivers the reliability and durability mobile customers demand.

The Portégé 3480CT offers a Mobile Intel® Pentium® III processor featuring Intel SpeedStep™ Technology 600MHz, generous 12 billion byte hard drive and 64MB of PC100 memory (expandable to 192MB) to maximize storage and performance capabilities. The Portégé 3480CT features an advanced 11.3-inch poly-silicon TFT active matrix display and a high performance graphics controller for blazing multimedia functionality. Additionally, the Portégé 3480CT uses Toshiba's Super Cooling technology, which efficiently diffuses heat for increased reliability and user comfort.

The Portégé 3480CT offers several compact and lightweight storage and expansion solutions. The Portégé 3480CT comes standard with a LAN Port Replicator, which features Ethernet connectivity and a full array of ports. Pricing and Availability

The Portégé 3480CT, Portégé 7200CTe and Portégé 7220CTe will be available in June 2000 through Toshiba's traditional distribution channels, VARs and mail order partners. The estimated single unit price for the Portégé 3480CT is $2,699 with Windows 98/95 and $2,799 with Windows 2000/NT. The Portégé 7200CTe is $3,299 with Windows 98/95 and $3,399 with Windows 2000/NT, while the Portégé 7220CTe is $3,499 with Windows 98/95 and $3,599 with Windows 2000/NT.

The Portégé 3480CT comes standard with a one-year parts and labor warranty while the Portégé 7200CTe and Portégé 7220CTe comes standard with a three-year parts and labor warranty including Toshiba's Notebook Depot repair program. This program allows for a notebook to be shipped to its depot, repaired and returned anywhere in the United States within 48 hours after receipt at the depot (service Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). The Portégé Portégé 7200CTe, 7220CTe and 3480CT also come standard with telephone technical support, available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week through Toshiba's InTouchSM Center. Online support is available via the Web, CompuServe Online Forum and the Electronic Solutions Bulletin Board.
